Pnuma Tenacity Performance Outdoor Pant
I’m always on the hunt for a good pair of multi-pocketed pants for shooting and hunting.
I believe I found them is these fast-moving pair of britches called the Tenacity Performance Outdoor Pant from Pnuma Outdoors of Cannon Falls, MN. The company is located near the Minneapolis-St. Paul.
The pants molded, removable knee pads were the main feature that really caught my eye. You can insert or remove the knee pads, both or one, with ease via side pockets. The side pockets use Velcro strip closures. This would really help with IDPA shooting since you can’t have your knee pads visible.
Pnuma claims their product is the “toughest pants you’ll ever wear.” I think they might have something here.
The 29-ounce Tenacity Pant is made from Dura-Fila N66 high-tenacity nylon yarn for “extreme durability.” The lightweight, rip-stop fabric is listed as to resist tears and punctures. I really liked the reinforced seat and knees. I tend to be hard on those areas. The lower part of the pant leg has elastic ankle straps with hook and loop closure, keeping debris out when cinched tight. This would help with tucking the pant legs into your hunting boots.
The garment’s stretchy material does move with you and does not bind. The gusseted crotch and pre-curved knees also add for ease of mobility. Snapping in and out of different shooting positions were no problem for these pants.
These pants would be great for Precision Rifle Series style shooting. The self-adjusting waist has plenty of give to provide a proper fit. Eat that big meal during a match with no worries. The waist liner also employs sticky rubber/Silicone strips in the front and back to keep your shooting jersey tucked in and tidy. The knees and boot cuffs have abrasion-resistant overlays of DuraGuard.
The Tenacity’s eight pockets features molle webbing on one cargo pocket. The large cargo pockets expand to hold just about anything you might need at a match or hunt. The rubberized pocket snaps are extremely quiet for that tactical or hunting situation. The YKK heavy-duty zippers have long pull tabs, making opening and closing the pockets easy. However, the stitch-sealed, tape-sealed zippers are a little noisy, but it’s not a deal breaker.
I believe the overall look of the pants are sharp and professional. In addition to shooting and hunting, the Pnuma pants would also be great for hiking, fishing, boating, camping or whatever outdoor endeavor. Two negatives: The $140 MRSP might be too steep for some folks, and the pants are not available in women sizes. I’m looking to give an update or final report towards the end of the 2017 shooting and hunting seasons. Can’t wait to wear them in the Turkey Woods in the spring.
Pnuma offers a 100% lifetime guarantee on their entire line of products, which includes hats, vests, shirts, jackets and wool undergarments. They said they will repair or replace any product that fails to meet the customer’s expectations. That’s good stuff, right there. On a side note, Pnuma provides their own proprietary camouflage for most of their products.
